All you need to look for is a firm mattress. At most stores the firmer ones are higher priced. I paid $90 at Wal-Mart for the firmest one they had.

The only thing to look for really is a firm mattress -- they're all pretty much the same size. I went with the middle-of-the-road. We didn't get the cheapest, and we didn't get the most expensive. And that's worked great! Ours was $70 maybe? They aren't terribly expensive

Good luck to you, and congratulations!!

We spend about $80-120 for a good mattress. We prefer our babies sleep on firm mattresses, because we think it is better for their backs.

Also, we choose firm over soft because if the baby happens to turn onto his/her stomach during the night, we don't worry as much about suffocation as we would if the baby were to by lying on a soft mattress.

Seely is a great choice.

You might want to look on the web for the MAKERS of the futon and its base? If they are listed, there is probably a HELP section. You could email them and explain your problem, and they will refine their instructions or tell you step by step. (probably needs to be properly translated)

The other useful store to ask would be the store from which you BOUGHT the futon. They will deal with the makers, and you can't be the only customer to be having trouble with the directions for assembly! Call them, and have a salesperson walk you through that last, difficult bit!

The futon I put together had 2 "holds" they were positioned about 18 inches in from the ends on the bottom part of the futon they just hooked into 2 small holes in the frame on each piece they stick up about 2 inches above the frame. I eventually took mine off because we kept hitting the holds when we would sit down (we had a cheap thin mattress)the mattress would stay in place after a couple weeks.
I hope this helps.
Good luck
